35. Liza Fisher, wood-fired vase
For Fisher, see item 34.
Light gray clay, cream and brown glazes and orange-brown colors from the wood-firing. Weight. 522 g (1.2 lb). Rim diameter: 6.5 cm (2-5/8 in); maximum diameter 11 cm (4-3/8 in); base diameter: 6.5 cm (2-5/8 in). Height. 15 cm (6 in).
Hand-thrown. The pot sits directly on the base, which is slightly concave. Fisher’s mark, a cursive "LF," is incised into the base. The walls curve outward to the maximum diameter about 7 cm (3 in) above the base and then curve inward to the rim.
This was covered with a cream glaze, parts of which became an orange-brown during the wood-firing. A dark brown glaze was splashed against the upper part of one side and allowed to drip down the side. There is some speckling from ash deposits.
